Benches

A bench can do a lot around the home. Use one with a dining table to seat extra guests, place one in a hallway for shoes and bags, or add one at the end of the bed for a handy perch while you get ready.

Start with where it needs to go. Dining benches should leave enough room to slide in and out comfortably, while hallway benches work best when they don’t block doors, drawers or walkways. For bedrooms, check the bench width against your bed frame so it feels useful without taking over the space.

Think about what you want it to do too. A cushioned bench adds comfort, a storage bench gives you somewhere to hide blankets or shoes, and a solid wood bench brings a sturdy feel for busy spaces. Fluted legs, velvet, boucle and rattan details can add texture if you want something a little softer.

Some benches arrive fully assembled, while others need minimal assembly or self assembly, so it’s worth checking the product details before you order. If you’re pairing one with a kitchen or dining table, measure the table height and leg space first so everything sits comfortably together.
