The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment Directive

The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items. 

 

You can recycle your old electrical products free of charge at your local household waste recycling centre (HWRC). To find your nearest centre, visit the Recycle More website and type in your postcode.

 

Applicable goods now come with this following label - please do not dispose of any electrical equipment including those marked with this symbol in your bin.

Finding the right place to recycle your large electrical items might prove difficult, but we're here to help. MFI customers can now give their old bathroom electronics a new lease of life by booking a recycling collection for large bulky, unwanted items. Recycling Waste Batteries

Recycling used, household batteries is a great way to help protect the environment. Batteries that are not disposed of correctly can cause water and soil pollution, alongside damaging our ecosystems and wildlife.

Some local authorities accept batteries as part of their recycling schemes. Please see here if you can recycle batteries at home.

Alternatively, most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries now have collection bins.
