Wooden Beds

Choosing a wooden bed starts with the look you want, but the bed frame also needs to work for your room. Think about the finish, the space around the bed and whether built-in storage would be useful.

Slatted and spindle frames keep things simple, while rattan, chevron patterns and four poster designs make more of a feature. Oak and natural finishes bring warmth, while black, brown and anthracite add contrast. Wood effect and upholstered options give you different looks too.

Storage is worth thinking about as well. An ottoman bed lifts to reveal space beneath the mattress for spare bedding, while other wooden beds feature drawers for things you want close at hand. A wooden bunk bed can help free up floor space in a shared bedroom.

Before you choose, check the full frame measurements against your room and mattress. Leave enough space to open drawers or lift the ottoman base, and make sure your wood effect or solid wood bed will fit through your doorway and up the stairs.
