Cover It Properly

Blank plates are useful when an electrical point is no longer needed but the back box still needs to remain accessible. They cover the opening without filling it permanently, which can be handy if the wiring may be used again in the future.

Choose a single or double blank plate to match the size of the existing back box. It’s worth checking the measurements before ordering, especially if you’re replacing an older fitting or covering a point that has already been altered.

A socket blanking plate only covers the opening. Any wiring behind it must still be safely isolated and terminated, so electrical work should be completed by a suitably qualified electrician.
