Kids’ bedding can be an easy way to give a bedroom more personality without changing the furniture or walls. A favourite theme such as dinosaurs, fairies, gaming, animals or space can take centre stage on the duvet cover, while plainer sheets and accessories keep the rest of the room from feeling too busy.
If you want the whole room to tie together, look for collections with matching fitted sheets, ready made curtains or throws. Using two or three pieces from the same design can make the space feel more coordinated, while mixing in plain colours gives you more flexibility as tastes change. Reversible kids’ duvet covers are useful here too, especially when one side offers a quieter alternative.
Bed size matters as children move from cot beds into singles and, later, larger bed frames. Check the size of the mattress before ordering, and look at what comes with each children’s bedding set so you know whether pillowcases are included.
